Greg Tansey is a centre midfielder who currently plays for St Mirren. He is an experienced pro who has made over 300 appearances spending time on both sides of the border.
In the 2017/18 season Greg played an integral part in helping Inverness Caledonian Thistle win the Scottish Cup for the first time in their history.
Unfortunately after moving to Aberdeen Greg’s time on the park stalled after suffering an injury that would eventually keep him out for a total of 16 months.
This injury combined with wanting to come back flying on his return to fitness resulted in Greg working with Football Mindset in a 1 to 1 capacity in late 2018 after having contact for over a year.
His goal was to improve his game in 2 specific areas:
• Deal with the frustrations and doubts that come from a long term injury
• Understand how to handle expectations he places on himself and get back to playing at his best in as short a time as possible
Greg has now created a process that he follows before games to get himself ready mentally for matches and ensure that he always gives himself the best chance of performing at his best in what is a challenging season for his new club.
“I started working with JJ after being out injured for 16 months with an injury and I was in a complicated situation. He taught me how to tailor my expectations coming back from injury and helped massively in putting things into perspective for me. I wanted to come back from injury flying and he taught me how to do this without being annoyed at myself when I just started back training and wasn’t at my best. Iv never done any work like this before and would recommend him to anyone looking to take their game to the next level.”
