Jamie Sterry

The last year of a contract

Came through Newcastle United youth system

Premier League debut v Spurs on 15 May 2016

Scored first professional goal for Coventry in Fa Cup

Jamie Sterry is a right back who plays for Newcastle United having come through the youth system of his home town club.

Jamie made his Premier League debut for Newcastle United on 15 May 2016 when he came on as a substitute in a 5-1 home victory at home to Tottenham Hotspur.

Having followed Football Mindset on social media for months Jamie jumped on a an initial call late 2018 and began working with us in mid-2019 having kept regular contact since the 1st call.

Since then Jamie has gone from strength to strength whilst playing either right back or centre midfield in the Premier League 2.

Jamie had 2 specific areas he wanted to address:

  • Release the shackles of his performance to allow him to express himself, relax and play with a confidence and freedom whilst knowing he was in the last year of his contract
  • Learn to concentrate fully on the field whilst there was uncertainty off the field

Jamie is now well on the way to creating systems and process’ that are allowing him to do the above. Not only is he performing at a higher level consistently than he has previously he is now in charge of his emotions consistently both on and off the park.

“Being in the last year of my contract I knew what I needed to work on and improve but I wasn’t exactly clear on how to do that as my inner game is not something I had worked on before in relation to my game. Having seen the difference in guys he has worked with previously it made sense to speak with JJ. Since working together he has helped me build momentum and consistency in my performance by helping me understand where my doubts off the park can come from and how to deal with them whilst allow me to concentrate fully on playing. I have now started to build a process that leaves me feeling confident that I can not only perform on the park but deal with any set of circumstances off the park.”
